Mami Wata, also known as Mother Water, is an entity in African spirituality most popular among the Igbo people in Nigeria. These waistbeads is inspired by the story of Mami Wata and the way she excudes seduction along with being a goddess associated with fertility.
Waistbeads are typically worn around the waist or hips as a symbol of femininity. By tying the beads around the biggest part of your belly, waistbeads are also a very effective tool for weight managment as they track weight loss/gain by the way they sit upon the body.
